Outstanding - This is a site with many interactive links. This is an outstanding site for grades 9-12.

National Aquarium in Baltimore
This site has excellent interactive games that promote environmental awareness. The games are designed around the following topics: seahorses, sea jellies, the rainforest, oceans, and deadly venoms. This site is appropriate for upper elementary students.

Genetic Decision Making Model  New
This site teaches students to use a decision making model, students will learn to stop and think and then make the decision based on the values they hold.
Microbe Detectives
Students are trying to find the culprit microbe that is causing a group of students to be ill. Polly Paramecium and Sally Salmonella are two of the suspects. They will conduct research from the given links and eliminate microbes that are not "guilty" and decide which microbe is guilty. They will use clues to complete a worksheet and prepare a presentation of their verdict and evidence at the end of the project. A rubric is included for the evaluation. This may be better suited for 5th and 6th graders.
Project Challenge - Life in the Extreme
Contructing Knowledge - Computer Skills, Ecology and Solar Systems are addressed in this webquest. Students are on a mission to select a planet where life can exist because the Earth is becoming to crowded or polluted. NYNU Virtual Physics New
This site contains a wide variety of simulations and related theory/vocabulary in nearly all areas of physical science : mechanics, waves, thermodynamics, etc.  Some of the topics are at advanced levels.

Virtual Fish Tank
This site allows students to create his/her own fish by manipulating different characteristics. These fish can then be "released" into a community tank. Each fish is tagged and can later be caught and get details of it's life. Using information from the entire class, the fish can be grouped by features and determine which of the features affects different aspects of its life.

This question creates a need to know chemistry to find a solution. The context of each question is a community: local, workplace, national,or global. The chemistry presented to the students builds upon the same vocabulary, thinking skills, problem solving and lab techniques as most traditional introductory chemistry courses. However in ChemCom® the student is lead to integrate what they have learned to see how it addresses issues in the real world. This is accomplished through many decision making activities that are a part of the course. It is the long term goal of the curriculum to present to the students the need and the skills to acquire technical knowledge to make intelligent decisions for themselves and for the communities in which they belong. The Exploratorium New
This is an online science museum with interactive exhibits.  Some of the exhibits include Global Climate Change and an Observatory on solar eclipse, auroras, sunspots, and building solar systems.
The Hubble Space Telescope
The Hubble Space Telescope Home Page has a 24-7 look into the control room of the Hubble Telescope located in MD. It also has live webcasts. It is a very cool site. Appropriate for grades 5-12.
Underground Adventure
Students take a virtual tour of soil and participate in experiments along the way. This is a great site for upper elementary students.
Volcano World
Despite a rather low-tech design, this site lives up to its billing as the Web's premier source of volcano information. Check out the currently erupting volcanoes page to catch up with the dozens of mountains around the world that are blowing their stacks. U.S. Global Change Research Program New
Outstanding - Each year a report, (Our Changing Planet) is published by this program . The latest year's version is downloadable from this site.  The report is about 75 pages but it can be printed off all at once or in sections. The report includes how the changing geosphere affects the atmosphere and weather.  There are six focus areas on the site; Atmospheric Composition, Changes in Ecosystems, Global Carbon Cycle, Human Dimensions, Climate Variability and Change, and Global Water Cycle. Information on El Nino with daily graphs of the temperature of the Pacific Ocean is included Highlights section.
USGS - Water Science for Schools New
This USGS site offers information on many aspects of water, along with pictures, data, maps and an interactive center where you can give opinions and test your water knowledge.
Weather New
You can learn what causes rain, thunder, tornadoes, and more.  Some of the links give good background or general resource information in the following catagories:  atmosphere, water cycle, powerful storms, ice/snow, forcasting, changing climate and ozone.  Students act as storm chasersby using guides to identify tornadoes and other weather events.

GLOBE Program Homepage
GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) is an international program where your students can join students from around the world in monitoring their local environment. Students can then submit their findings to a growing database on the Internet. Scientists and other students can access the data for research about the global environment. This site contains all the information a teacher would need to perform GLOBE activities, including studies of the atmosphere, hydrology, soils, seasons, land cover, and global positioning systems (GPS). The protocols for the activities are described, although to become an offical GLOBE site, teachers must also attend an official GLOBE training session. Information on training sessions can be obtained on the Globe site.

I Want My Mummy New
Outstanding - This is a fun middle school project where students work in groups to decide what should happen to a mummy that has just been discovered.  Groups involved include museum directors, scientists, cultural watchdog groups, and the government.  Students have to look at the positions of all people involved in this debate.  They then draw a "character" and present an argument for that position.  They may have to present an idea that they don't personally agree with.  This site has many great links to help students develop a strong position and encourages them to "think outside of the box."  Rubrics are provided..

African-American Inventors New
This site is primarily a project outline in which pairs of students will create a program to be taped about an African-American inventor.  Guidelines are provided as well as a grading rubric.  Limited resource links are provided for possible inventors to study.
African-American Scientists New
